ROYCE LOOKS FORWARD TO IPSWICH
Gills Player of the Year Simon Royce missed the closing stages of the 2007/08 season but is confident that his injury problems are now behind him, "I should be alright to play on Wednesday. I haven't missed any training with the ankle so that is a plus. It was quite a traumatic injury but I should be fine, they would have to put me in plaster to keep me out of the games!"
"I think we'll see a different Gillingham against Ipswich as I think the Gaffer has had more on his mind in the first three fixtures about what team he wants to play. I think you'll see a lot of players playing towards 90 minutes of that game rather than two different sides each half. The Gaffer has got his ideas so he'll want to start leaning towards the team that starts against Bournemouth and hopefully I will be one of those in the starting eleven."
Royce admits he was frustrated after the Grays defeat, "It does get to you as a player, of course it does. You don't want to go to Grays and lose 1-0 or lose 1-0 at home to Stevenage. Whether it's a league game, a pre-season game or a game on the training ground, I do not like letting goals in. If I'm playing in my back garden, I don't like letting them in. You don't like getting beat and that is the attitude that we have got to take into this season."

And Royce believes tonight's match can be the spring board for a great season, "Hopefully against Ipswich and Birmingham, stronger opposition, we might up our game a bit to show the fans that we are going to be a decent team in League Two. This season is going to be tough as League Two is a tough league to get out of. I cannot see why we cannot go up. We have got the squad so we need to buck our ideas up and push on."
