It's been a hectic summer for Andrew Crofts, no sooner had the final whistle blown at Elland Road before the Gills skipper jetted off to join up with the Wales squad for their international matches with Iceland and the Netherlands.

"I didn't get on the pitch for too long in the Iceland game but obviously it was nice to pick up another international cap. Then I came on for the last 15 minutes against the Netherlands in Rotterdam and that was a fantastic experience and of course that makes me Gillingham's most capped player which I'm very proud of."

At the final whistle Crofty could be seen swapping shirts with Chelsea and Real Madrid star Arjen Robben but did he manage to hang on to his souvenir?

"At the end of the game I found myself near Robben so I thought I'd give it a gamble and see if I could get his shirt, he'd scored in the match too which made it special.  Fortunately no one in the Welsh team had called it first so I managed to hang on to Arjen's shirt and obviously i'm delighted."

So having witnessed the flying Dutch at first hand does Crofty fancy them to win Euro 2008?

"I've been watching a lot of the matches and they are an excellent side and obviously having qualified for the quarter finals they've got a good chance but there are a lot of strong teams left in the tournament still so it's all to play for"

Just three weeks since his last competitive match Crofts is already looking forward to the new season with the Gills

"It's definitely going to be a tough league next season but I'm hopeful we will do well, we've got a good squad of players at Gillingham and I think we've got a good chance of bouncing back.  On a personal note there have been one or two rumours doing the rounds but i'm very happy with the club and I want to focus on my football and help get us back where we belong"
