Stimson is optimistic about landing the Stevenage stopper, "I'm quietly confident that we will be able to add him to our squad and with Derek Stille retiring another goalkeeper would be good for competition."

Alan Julian started his career as a trainee with Brentford making 16 first team appearances.  He joined Stevenage in March 2005 and made an instant impact winning the Supporters Player of the Year award in his first season at Broadhall Way.

Meanwhile experienced defender Danny Cullip will be leaving the club after opting not to sign the contract offered to him.  Stimson confirmed "Danny and I spoke 10 weeks ago and agreed a deal but when we sat down at the end of the season, he wanted something else in the deal regarding length of contract."

"We put something in writing but unfortunately Danny has turned it down.  I would like to wish him all the best because when he did play for us he gave his all"
