With the season over, Gillingham midfielder Adam Miller has finally undergone surgery to treat the injury which has been troubling him in recent weeks.  After playing through the pain for some time Miller saw a specialist at a Leicester hospital and was due to go under the knife at midday today.

Gills Physio Paul Smith explains "Technically Adam's injury is not a hernia its a disruption of the groin.  Its a common injury for footballers and he'll be back in training within two weeks.  The injury requires no specific training and players have been known to play competitively within three weeks of surgery."

"Miller will be undergoing a revolutionary new style of surgery which requires entering the patient via the belly button rather than making an incision to the torso. That means that healing time is reduced and recovery time is minimal.  Adam will need to treat it with respect for the first 24 to 48 hours.  But, Adam being Adam, if we had a game next week he'd play in it."

Barry Fuller is progressing well after major surgery to two badly broken fingers on his left hand.  Fuller picked up the injury against Millwall and at first was unaware of the extent of the damage.  X-rays revealed that the broken bones were fragmented and during surgery Barry had 2 plates and 5 screws inserted in his middle finger and a further two screws inserted in his ring finger.

Smith says "Barry has got the movement back in his fingers and can train with caution. He'll be back and ready to play in time for pre-season"  The physio also revealed that he is happy with the progess on Simon Royce's ankle injury, "Simon's ankle is coming along nicely, i'm confident he will be ready to take a full part in pre-season training."
