Gillingham's reserve goalkeeper Derek Stillie today announced his retirement from the professional game.

Derek arrived at the club last summer on a free transfer from Scottish Premier League side Dundee United but found his first team chances limited by the outstanding form of Gills Player of the Year Simon Royce.

This season Stillie has combined his role at Gillingham with studying for a law degree at the University of Medway and is quitting football to concentrate on a new career in the legal profession.  Gills Manager Mark Stimson expressed his gratitude to Derek saying, "I would like to thank Derek for all his efforts for the club this season and wish him every success in his new career."
